I've been tagged!.......

......I'VE BEEN TAGGED!.....

My good friend Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ has tagged me! I am supposed to list six Quirks about myself.......

Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.

2. Mention the rules on your blog.

3. List 6 unspectacular quirks.

4. Tag 6 bloggers by linking to them on your post and then commenting them to let them know that they are "it."

Quirky things about me?... Oh my!...... Well here goes:

1. When I read a book I always read the last paragraph first.

2. I never go bare footed outside. I don't like the feel of the grass on the bottom of my feet.

3. On the other hand, I don't like anyone to wear shoes in my house.

4. When I eat a piece of layer cake I always eat the cake first and the frosting last.

5. I have to look at everything available before I make a purchase. Usually by the time I get back to the original item I was looking at someone else has bought it.

6. I like to dance when I do my house work. I dance all around the house dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing to the beat of the music.

I am passing the tag on to the following bloggers, but please ladies no pressure......

Sandy http://curlyscorner-sandy.blogspot.com/

Louise http://thehomeiswheretheheartis.blogspot.com/

Nikki http://nikkicrumpet.blogspot.com/

Anne http://peekaboostreet.blogspot.com/

Zetor http://zetor-mogsblog.blogspot.com/

Rosanne http://fireflynights.wordpress.com/

Friday Fill-Ins.........

Friday Fill-ins #87
http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/

And... here we go!

1. When I'm sick I'm of no use to anyone, especially myself.

2. When I take a walk, I think about what's around the next corner.

3. Money can't buy happiness but it can make life a lot more comfortable.

4. Cotton makes me think of candy and leather makes me think of stately old libraries and cigars.

5. The strangest person/character I've had lewd thoughts about was humm, I'd have to think about that one.

6. My favorite color these days is blue because it makes me think of endless oceans and vast blue skies.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to beginning the Labor Day weekend tomorrow my plans include traveling through a corn maze, and Sunday I want to contemplate all that I'm thankful for.

See you next week,

Booking Through Thursday.......

Booking through Thursday http://btt2.wordpress.com/

"If you're anything like me, one of your favorite reasons to read is for the story. Not for the character development and interaction. Not because of the descriptive, emotive powers of the writer. Not because of the deep, literary meanings hidden beneath layers of metaphor. (Even though those are good things.) No... it's because you want to know what happens next? Or, um, is it just me? "

http://webweaver.nu/cliparteducation-books.shtm

I have a tiny little confession to make. I usually read the last paragraph of the book first. I know.... I know, what your thinking, but I just can't help it.... It drives my friends and family nuts! One of my favorite reasons for reading a book is also the story but if I don't have an idea of how it's going to end I tend to rush through the book because the anticipation is just too great. When I read the ending first I can go back and truly enjoy the book. It's fascinating to me to see how the author develops the characters, the various interactions between them, the descriptions of the scenery, and the feel for the time period involved. I'm always on the look out for some deeper meaning even when there isn't one. By the time I finish a book I have usually become so engrossed with it that I have a sense of sadness that it's ended. I will ordinarily go around the next several days wondering about the characters and missing them, but then I pick up the next book, and the whole process begins all over again........
Until next week... Warmest regards,

Dogs on Thursday........

Welcome to Dogs On Thursday http://dogsonthursday.blogspot.com/. We are a group of dog lovers like myself who get together once a week to write a post about our darling Diva's and oh so handsome gentlemen. If you would like to join our group, or would like further information about us, you can reach the official Dogs on Thursday site by clicking on the above link.......

Charli has had a great week. We have been having lots of company, and of course Charli being Charli, thinks everyone is coming over just to visit with her. She has been getting tons of belly rubs and lots of extra attention.....

Now that my hubby is feeling better he, and Charli, have been going for walks in the morning. In fact, Charli has gotten so spoiled that she wants to go out walking the minute she gets up. She will sit beside my hubby and pester him to death until he takes her. There is no giving up with her... Oh no.... She is relentless! If my hubby becomes annoyed she will jump on his lap and bury him in hugs and kisses until she is forgiven. She knows exactly how to get him to do anything she wants him to do. Those hugs and kisses work every time! He just melts! She owns him and she knows it.......

We have met a new blog friend this week. Pinta at http://pinta-pinta.blogspot.com/ stopped by to see us. She lives in Italy and she has the most adorable little schnauzerare named Uto. Charli really liked his pictures! Now that I know how to translate language using Google a whole new world has been opened up to us. I feel so incredibly blessed to be meeting so many wonderful people.....

We also went to Charli's favorite store Pet Smart to pick up some food. As usual Charli didn't get out of the store empty pawed. Look at her new outfit! It was on sale! She just loves loves it! She looks so cute driving around in the car with it on. This is what it says: "Being perfect is not as easy as it looks." It's sooo Charli! Don't you think? She is such a Diva!....

We can't wait to read all of your posts! Until next week...
Our warmest regards,

Looking out my kitchen window........

Looking out my kitchen window........

Looking out my kitchen window this morning I saw a Cardinal sitting on the fence, but the days are getting shorter, and the mornings cooler. Soon all of my little friends will fly away. It will be time to put away the bird houses, the butterflies, the birds, and the frogs. Another summer will be over soon....

The end of one season always brings another. Soon it will be time to bring out the pumpkins and scarecrows. I will look out my window, and instead of seeing the birds, I will watch the leaves slowly fall to the ground. Another glorious Autumn will soon be here....

What is your favorite season, and why? I would love to hear from you....

With warmest regards,

Thank you Maria!.....

Thank you Maria!........

I feel so honored and blessed to receive this Gift Of Heart from my friend Maria, at http://maria-pogaduszki.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much! Maria has a very kind heart so I am sending this award,
first and foremost, right back to her. She is Polish, and most of her blog is written in Polish, but I still go there time and time again. I like to look at the pictures she posts. Some of her recipes as well as some of her other posts are written in English. They are very interesting to look at and read. I am very excited because my hubby just recently taught me how to transcibe her text into English using Google. I'm still fairly new at the computer and with blogging. I hope you will take time to stop by and visit with Maria. She is such a lovely lady....

The following is something that Maria recently posted on her blog. I thought it was truly inspiring.... "I believe that it is not necessary to speak the same language to show our love. We may not be able to talk to one another, but our heart's are speaking the same language. It's a sisterhood, the utopia that blog land strives for." Isn't that beautifully stated?.....

On that note, I would like to pass this Gift Of Heart along to all of you who read my blog, are on my blog list, or have left me comments. We truly are a sisterhood....
All of you, that I have encountered here in blog land, have such kind and caring hearts. I think all of you deserve to have this lovely award. Thank you so much for your friendship....

With warmest regards,

The annual R.I.P Challange is about to begin......

Carl, at http://stainlesssteeldroppings.com/2p=993 is having his annual R.I.P (R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril Challenge), for bloggers who share a love of eerie and creepy literature......
The challenge will run from September 1st through October 31st. The books to choose from are in the Thriller, Dark Fantasy, Gothic, Mystery, Horror, Suspense, and Supernatural categories.....

How did I find out about this challenge? Well I was visiting Paula at http://bassetknitter.blogspot.com/ and read all of the details......

Truthfully I do not have a love of eerie and creepy literature. In fact, it scares me to death to read it, but once I start the book I usually can't put it down. I just sit there reading away in a terrified and frantic state of mind. I remember a friend recommending The Bone Collectors to me. I read it in the winter, and every time the heat went on, or the phone rang, I would literally jump two feet in the air. Then there was the time the same friend recommended The Ruins. To this day I get a strange and eerie feeling working on my vines out back when I'm home alone. In Cold Blood was another chilling book that comes to mind. I had nightmares for weeks....

With all of that in mind I am accepting this challenge because I believe it's important to read out of the box of what I'm normally comfortable with and used to...

I am going to choose "Peril the Second" as my challenge which means I will read two books in one of the above categories, have fun reading them, share that fun with others, and then write a review on each of them. As I was trying to decide which two books to choose I received the reading list from the library book club I belong to. It was amazing! The first two books on our list were each in one of the above categories.......

And here they are... I can already feel my heart rate increasing....

If you would like to accept the challenge, or would like further information, please click the above link. Me, well, I will be here at home reading, biting my fingernails, and trying not to scream out loud.....

With warmest regards,

Thank you Zetor!.... Thank you Sally!.....

Oh my goodness! I was so pleased and honored to receive my latest award from my two friends, Zetor and Sally. Thank you so much!

Zetor at http://zetor-mogsblog.blogspot.com/ has a very interesting and fun blog. Her posts are all about books, poetry, sewing, and family. She belongs to Sky watch and posts the most amazing pictures.

I feel like we have all become a great group of blogger pen pals in a sense and communication is the key. Since we can't pick up the phone, or stop by to see one another, the next best thing is to leave a comment. I try to leave them as often as I can and I really appreciate all of the comments every one leaves on my blog. Thank you so much. It's been so nice getting to know all of you, and all of you that do leave comments on blogs certainly deserve this award, but according to the rules I can only pick seven. So here goes:

The clothesline........

Photo courtesy of Jill at http://www.pasadenahousewife.com/

THE CLOTHESLINE

Only those of us who have been there, done that would get a kick out of this one!
The clothesline... a dead give away. Do kids today even know what a clothesline is? For all of us who are a bit older, this will bring back memories......

A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secret you could keep
when clothes were hung to dry.

It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.

For then you'd see the 'fancy sheets'
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the 'company table cloths'
With intricate design.

The line announced a baby's birth
To folks who lived inside
As brand new infant clothes were hung
So carefully with pride.

The ages of the children could
So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed
You'd know how much they'd grown.

It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.

It said, 'Gone on vacation now'
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, 'We're back!' when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare.

New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy gray,
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way.

But clotheslines now are of the past
For dryers make work less.
Now what goes on inside the home
Is any body's guess.

I really miss that way of life
It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line!

BASIC RULES....
1. You had to wash the clothes line before hanging any clothes. Walk the length of each line with a damp cloth around the line.
2. You had to hang the clothes in a certain order and always hang whites with whites and hang them first.
3. You never hung shirts by the shoulders, always by the tail. What would the neighbors think?
4. Wash day on a Monday....never hang clothes on the weekend or Sunday for heaven's sake!
5. Hang the sheets and towels on the outside lines so you could hide your 'unmentionables' in the middle.
6. It didn't matter if it was sub zero weather.... clothes would 'freeze dry.'
7. Aways gather the clothes pins when taking down dry clothes. Pins left on the line was 'tacky.'
8. If you were efficient, you would line the clothes up so that each item did not need two clothes pins, but shared one of the clothes pins with the next washed item.
9. Clothes off the line before dinner time, neatly folded in the clothes basket and ready to be ironed.
10. IRONED?! Well, that's a whole other subject!!....

How about you, do you remember hanging clothes out on a line? Do you remember any of these rules?....

I still occasionally hang my clothes out on a line. I love that fresh smell hanging outside gives the clothes.......

Thank you John for this e-mail..... It has brought back a lot of pleasant memories......

Happy day!....... With warmest regards,

Dogs on Thursday........

Welcome to Dogs On Thursday, http://dogsonthursday.blogspot.com/ , a post where dog lovers like myself get together to talk about they're precious dogs and other lovable four legged friends. If you are interested in joining our group, or would like more information, please click the above link to go to the official Dogs On Thursday site....

"Let me tell you bout my best friend".........

Charli wanted me to tell you about her best friend in the whole world. Her name is Peeper. As you can see she is also a darling Miniature Schnauzer. Peeper is a very gentle little girl who has a kind sweet soul. She is very laid back and just loves hugs and kisses...

"Grandma. Peeper isn't looking at the camera." "I know Charli. Peeper is just a little shy right now. Remember how shy you were when I first started taking your picture?"

"Well if Peeper doesn't have to then I don't either!" "Oh for goodness sakes Charli!" "No, no, I'm not doin it!"

We'll try to have more pictures of Peeper and Charli later on in our Dogs On Thursday posts.....

Charli's very favorite thing to do is play with Peeper. When she isn't visiting with her best friend she likes to go walking in the park. There are lot's of things to see and do there. Fortunately we have been having beautiful weather here in Michigan this week....

"Charli come on look at the camera for Grammy."
"Nope. I'm not doin it unless Peeper does."
"Oh you silly! Pepper isn't even here."
"I don't care. If Peeper doesn't have to do it then I'm not doin it either."
Sigh...."Oh Charli you're such a little Diva! What are we going to do with you?"
Oh well.... We hope all of you have a great week! We can't wait to read all of your posts!
With warmest regards,

Booking Through Thursday.......

This week at Booking Through Thursday, http://btt2.wordpress.com/, we are being asked the following questions:
What is your earliest memory of a library? Who took you? Do you have any funny/odd memories of the library?

http://www.webweaver.nu/cliparteducation-book.shtm

My earliest memories of going to the library would have to be in elementary school. Our class was taken to the library periodically by our teacher. Although I liked going to the library to chose a book it seems to me I never quite picked the right one. Maybe it was just that needed more one, on one, attention to read because I rarely finished or got much out of the book.

In high school I choose choir as an elective. I have mentioned before how desperately I wanted to be able to sing. I wanted to be in my high school choir more than any thing else in the world. I remember being so excited the first couple of classes, but when we started to sing, and our teacher went around the room listening to us individually, I was asked to leave. I was very upset and disappointed. I begged my teacher to let me stay, and try, but he basically said nothing could be done to help me learn. He said some people just do not have a singing voice. He was very nice and tactful about the way he went about telling me but I was literally crushed. The only elective class left open happened to be a library training class. I think that class was my first real exposure to the library and it proofed to be a very valuable experience indeed. In fact, I like it so much, that I even took it the next semester. That class was an introduction to so many things. It was the beginning of my development of a life long love for books......

Until next week...... With warmest regards,

Two horses.....

TWO HORSES..........

I received this from my friend Freda yesterday and I thought I would share it with all of you.......

There is a field, with two horses in it.

From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.

This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two horses, you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owner of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those God places in our lives.

Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way...

Good friends are like that....you may not always see them, but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

And remember...be kinder than necessary-everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly...

Leave the rest to God.....

We hope you have a beautiful day!....

With warmest regards,

Thank you Susie Q.......
