Booking Through Thursday........

Welcome to Booking Through Thursday at http://btt2.wordpress.com/
A weekly post where book lovers like myself get together to discuss literature and questions related to books. If you would like to join our group, or you would like more information about us, just click on the above link to reach the official Booking Through Thursday web site........

Our questions this week are as follows......
"There are certain types of books that I more or less assume all readers read. (Novels, for example) but then there are books that only YOU read. Instructional manuals for fly-fishing. How to books for spinning yarn. How to cook the perfect souffle. Rebuilding car engines in three easy steps. Dog training for dummies. Rewiring your house without electrocuting yourself. Tips on how to build a NASCAR course in your backyard. Stuff like that. What niche books do YOU read?"

I do occasionally read recipe books but most of the information I need I now get off of the Internet. As far as 'how to' books are concerned I never read any of those. I'm blessed to have a hubby who knows how to build and fix just about anything. I usually just say "Oh honey" and my hubby takes care of it for me. I used to read a multitude of nursing and medical books but since my retirement I'm trying to get away from that. Besides, medicine changes so quickly that most books are out dated with in a year except for some of the most basic knowledge and information. I do subscribe to two on line nursing magazines, the CDC, and 'Med Page Today.' I do like to read inspiration books and stories that I usually pick up in the religious stores in my area. Other than that, it's novels all the way for me........
Happy Booking Through Thursday everyone!....
I hope all of you have a beautiful day ♥.....
With warmest regards, Carol

I still dip into my old nursing/midwifery books occasionally but it's cookery books mostly now.

yeah you are right medicine does change so much that it would probably be a waste of money to invest in those books when like you said...they will be outdated soon. I like to read up on recipes as well but I find that info online too. I hope you are having a nice Thursday afternoon.

If it's interesting enough and not gory or profane, I will read most anything, but I do gravitate towards decent mysteries (hard to find without violence sex or profanity!)

blessings and hugs,

Historical novels and books about History I really enjoy reading.

I also am very fortunate - if I need something repaired, my hubby comes to my rescue. :)

To be honest with you, I really only like to read books that interest me! I like to look through cook books, but my true love is for crime mysteries! Hope you had an interesting day!

I still stick to reading mysteries. I like books by Nora Roberts. Have a great afternoon.

Fortunately for us, you have introduced us to some really good books on your blog. I enjoy cookbooks, decorating books, and inspirational books.

Hmmm...I enjoy some of my sewing/crafting books. Have some cookbooks, but don't delve into them often. But I love down to earth stories about families like the ones Debbie Macomber writes. She is my fav author. I also enjoy mysteries and really have enjoyed the The Cat Who books. I have not read one of the those in awhile. I need to get one or two from the library for a change of pace in my reading. I try to always have a book with me at work and usually read during my lunch break.

I don't read a lot of How To books either. If I need anything, I just surf the internet. You are so right about medicine getting outdated quickly. I have a cousin who is a doctor and constantly cribs about it. He says, if you take medicine you have to study for life :)

Currently I am checking out or ordering used books about the Celts. They seem to have become an obsession with me. I guess I'm trying to find out who I am and where I came from.
